THE continuous success of the Innovative and Creative Groups (KIK) from Sarawak at both national and international-level conventions, shows the state civil service is rated highly when it comes to innovation and creativity, says Minister in Chief Minister’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Talib Zulpilip.

According to him, seven Sarawak KIKs had participated in the national level Annual Productivity and Innovation Conference and Exposition (APIC) 2019, taking place at Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre (SPCC) from Nov 5 to 7.

He said of the seven, five KIKs – HARMONY 2 (Treasury Department of Sarawak), CLICKERS (Treasury Department of Sarawak), MECHANICAL 7 (Kuching North City Commission), PROBE (Kuching North City Commission) and PRODIGY 6 (Pustaka Negeri Sarawak – State Library) – received five-star ratings.

“The HARMONY 2 and PROBE have been named among the ‘20 Best Public Sector Groups (State Category)’.

“In addition, PRODIGY 6 also received the Industry Award 4.0,” he told reporters during a press conference at the DUN lobby here yesterday.

Talib said the other two groups – FMB (Kuching North City Commission) and NADIM (Pustaka Negeri Sarawak) – received four-star ratings.

APIC 2019 was organised by the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) and involved over 300 KIK groups from 125 agencies and departments throughout Malaysia. At international level, Talib said a delegation representing Sarawak public service delegation attended the International Convention Quality Control Circle (ICQCC) 2019 at Keio Plaza Hotel in Tokyo, Japan, on Sept 21-27.

The delegates were led by State Secretary State Datuk Amar Jaul Samion.

Sarawak entered four groups – namely DO IT 3 (Treasury Department of Sarawak), THE HUMMER (Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation), FORCESCAP (Miri City Council) and JAGU (Sri Aman District Council).

“All the four groups clinched the Gold Awards – a unique history versus the achievement of three Gold Awards last year.

“The continuous success of KIKs from the state civil service is a result of group efforts and high management collaboration at agency-level, especially the State Service Modernisation Unit (UPPN), in ensuring that the culture of innovation and quality would continue to be cultivated in Sarawak public service towards providing excellent services to the people,” he said.
